Patchwork Quilting Welcomes SPRING!
Instead of patchwork quilting I spent the weekend cleaning up my garden… it felt so good to get out and feel the sunshine on my face.
Its during these wonderful warm months coming up that its great for looking for inspiration everywhere for our patchwork quilting.
What colors occur naturally in nature that would POP in a quilt? What textures appeal to you the most? Make notes, take pictures, journal however works best for you….
But just get out there, open up your eyes and soak it ALL in!

Patchwork Quilting Pickle Dish
I ran across this gorgeous patchwork quilting this morning… it was not identified, nor was it’s quilter, which is a shame, but it’s apparently hanging in a show in Israel…
I know the pattern by “pickle dish” although it has other pattern names too. Isn’t it FABULOUS? The interplay between light and dark, and scale variances make it a DELIGHT to look at! What a wonderful way this would be to use up scraps!

Patchwork Quilting Thimbles
There are as many opinions on which thimble[s] to use in patchwork quilting as there are quilters. Most quilters end up with a whole “collection” of them. Not decorative ones, but real, meant to be used ones, so they can find what feels “right” for them. THAT is the most important part of using a thimble, or thimbles, they have to be what feels most comfortable for YOU and work well too. I have always used leather thimbles, buying new ones as I puncture the current model.
In this video you can see that this quilter actually wears three [3] of them at once! While I have never done that, it works for her, and THAT is what matters.
As an aside… if you get, as the patchwork quilting gal in this video mentions, a drop of blood on you quilt, your own saliva will take your blood out of anything better than anything else! Simply grab a cotton swab, get it saturated with your own saliva, and use it to remove the blood spot!

I have noticed over my 30+ years of patchwork quilting that many quilters try to put their quilt into their hoop or frame too tightly and then wonder why they cannot get nice small, even stitches.

Patchwork Quilting FREE Jelly Rolls & Bake Shop!
Do love the cute little Moda Jelly Rolls as much a this patchwork quilting gal does? Are you looking for more ways to use them? Well, while I get my, having previously owned a quilt pattern mind working, you need to head over and check out the Moda Bake Shop! Yes, bake shop! What else would you expect from a company that makes rolls of fabrics that they call Jelly Rolls??? LOL!
For those of you that might not be aware of what Jelly Rolls are in the patchwork quilting world, they are rolls of 40 strips of Moda’s fabrics that are already precut 2-1/2″ wide x the length of a width of their patchwork quilting cotton, which is usually about 45″.
