Paducah Patchwork QUILTING!
Well its cold and ugly here this morning… raining… just not a pretty day. BUT, grab a nice warm cup of steaming freshly brewed coffee and enjoy this tour of Paducah through its patchwork quilting! It’s supposed to be raining there today too… so enjoy this quilt show without getting WET! Thanks to Bob for a wonderful show!
Patchwork Quilting in Paducah!
Since I cannot be in Paducah this year I am going to live vicariously through the following video & share it with YOU! I WAS in Paducah the year Caryl (who is an absolutely WONDERUL person and FABULOUS patchwork quilting artist) won Best of Show. I will never forget walking through the center doors into the Executive Inn Exhibit Hall and seeing her quilt… MAGNIFICENT! So spend a couple minutes… in Paducah, and with Caryl, this morning!
p.s. its really not hard to quilt your handwriting into your quilts… it became one of my signature touches in my art quilts, I journal onto the quilt, dropping the feeddogs, and freehand quilting as I go…. you can do it too! It just takes practice!
Pathwork Quilting; the ULTIMATE Green Hobby!
Patchwork Quilting has LONG been known as a hobby that attracts the frugal amongst us. Today is Earth Day, and today we CELEBRATE the fact that WE have ALWAYS been GREEN! Quilters are notorious for using up each and EVERY scrap of fabric they can! Scrap quilts, which have been around forever, are a testament to YOUR thriftiness!
Not using YOUR scraps? Be sure to check out all our posts on English Paper Piecing! It not only helps you use up all those scraps, but its a GREAT excuse to SWAP them with friends! I have even done it with friends online! So not using YOUR scraps but might feel more inspired by someone elses? If it works, DO it! Start a charm quilt today!

The Patchwork Quilting Trail goes to PADUCAH!
This particular barn made me think of patchwork quilting in the SPRING! For many years that meant gathering up all my friends and heading off to Paducah Kentucky for the big AQS Quilt SHOW! Well it opens TOMORROW! No, I won’t be there this year, and neither, I understand, will it be held in the Executive Inn, which has been closed awaiting renovating into some other life.
Some other life… and lifetime… I absolutely loved going to the Paducah show! We stayed right in the Executive Inn, having worked our way through what was then a lottery system and stayed there year after year. It was fun to be right amongst the action! They used to hold the Fairfield Fashion show in the courtyard where we always had rooms and we would watch from our two room “suite” hosting a cocktail party while enjoying the show! During those years I went from watching in awe, to modeling, to actually designing garments for the Fairfield Fashion Show for five (5) years! I also loved exhibiting my work in the show as well as helping friends in the vendor’s mall… we did it all, and miss it all! So we will ALL watch with baited breath to see what quilt wins Best of Show tomorrow!
If YOU attend we would LOVE to see pics and hear all about it firsthand!

Do you just LOVE this one as much as I do?
This barn seems to epitomize what our patchwork quilting is; as we sometimes use them to show how we see the world…
I just hope that YOU are having as great an Easter weekend as we are! Easter Egg hunts with our granddaughter, visiting a home known as Agecroft Hall that was moved, piece by piece from England and reassembled here in the United States… the gardens are put together like real life patchwork quilting and are magnificent! They even had a plant sale… how could we go wrong? I took a bunch of video of Poppy with his granddaughter toddling in the gardens… maybe they will inspire yet MORE patchwork quilting!?!
I hope YOU have a WONDERFUL EASTER SUNDAY! See you next week!!!
